Storytelling

I will excite your imagination with stories old and new. Story works with people of any age and ability. Let me tell you of dragons and tailors and tricksters and ghosts (real or perhaps not real). I tell stories to entertain and connect with our imaginations, each other, our memories, our worlds.

Sue is a teller of tales that will tickle your imaginations. She will take you to worlds old, new, real and magical. You will meet dragons, fairies, ghosts and little boys afraid of the dark. These stories will entertain, challenge and shine a light into dark places. From 3 to 103, they will take you back to your mother’s knee.

a teller of tales!

What a joy it is to tell stories!

Stories can make you laugh, cry, reflect … the same story can touch different people in different ways.  Stories can help us escape from and process the experiences we have.

I can tell stories to children and/or adults.  We can have a lot of fun together regardless of age!

Sessions are usually for one hour.  They can be flexible, however, to meet your needs.

I can tell stories from my repertoire, or I can develop a set of stories for you.  Naturally, it will take more time to develop a bespoke set of stories, and so the cost of the session will reflect this.

Please contact me if you would like to me tell stories with you.

Sue is a lovely storyteller. She has a very warm and engaging manner and is expressive in her delivery (both verbally and non-verbally). Her stories are always interesting to hear and hold my attention.

Storytelling comes into a special domain as a means to communicate through words and expression when in the hands of Wirral Wonderers MC Sue Povall who with hands raised told the tale of the ‘Woodsman and his wife who spun round the kitchen with joy. As they passed the cauldron, the wife caught her foot on her husband’s ankle and she flew into the air and down into the cauldron landing with a clatter, a rattle and a pop and pffffff...ttttttt of pinky purple light’.

We invited Sue to our college for National Storytelling Week in 2018 which proved such a success we invited Sue along again for 2019 for an equally fantastic display of storycraft. Sue draws in her listeners with a variety of worldly tales, diverse with vivid imagery and ensnaring her listeners’ imaginations with a playful and masterful delivery.
— James Wylde – Wirral Metropolitan College
As a storyteller, I have found Sue to be very imaginative and resourceful, always choosing to tell stories which include a diverse and inclusive range of characters and scenarios and always fitting her storytelling to the setting she finds herself in.

Sue came with another storyteller to ‘Holiday at Home’ as part of a 4 day event held in West Kirby for elderly people who have trouble getting out of their homes unaided. 18 ‘holidaymakers’ plus helpers were held spellbound once Sue stood up and started her first story. Her perfect storytelling voice held our attention right to the end. Comments afterwards over a cup of tea were “I was back by the fire listening to my Mother”, “I don’t know when I last had a story ‘read’ to me” and “How did they memorise it all?”. We all loved your stories, Sue. Please come again next year. Thank you, from all your listeners.

Sue is able to pitch her stories to suit a wide variety of audiences and keeps everyone engaged. She has experience in many different settings and her passion shows through in her performances. She is highly recommended.
